Our top story today comes out of the Middle East.The leader of Hezbollah has issued an ominous warning to the US should Israel launch an attack on Iran.Here_s the story.In an interview on Lebanese TV, Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah warned that if Israel launches a strike on Iranian nuclear sites, the terrorist group will strike back with attacks on US bases in the Middle East. According to Nasrallah, if Israel targets Iran, America bears responsibility, whether the US is involved in the strike or not. Over the weekend, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked world powers to set a quote clear red line to dissuade Iran from pursuing nuclear capabilities. That sparked fears of a possible strike from Israel before the upcoming US election. But despite the heightened rhetoric, Nasrallah said he doubts an attack will happen any time soon, mainly because of the economic impact a war in the Gulf would have on oil prices. In Thailand, one of the heirs to the Red Bull fortune was arrested on hit and run charges. Vorayuth Yoovidhya, the grandson of Red Bull founder Chaleo Yoovidhya, allegedly hit a police officer with his Ferrari while speeding through the residential streets of Bangkok at dawn. The officer_s body and motorcycle were dragged a fair distance. Police traced oil streaks on the asphalt back to the family_s gated home in a wealthy district of Bangkok. Bangkok_s most senior police official is handling the case, but only after it was discovered that a lower-level officer had brought in a fake suspect in an attempted cover up. The Yoovidhya family is ranked as the fourth richest in Thailand, with an estimated fortune of 5.4 billion dollars.In other news, Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed orders to completely overhaul and update the nation_s military. Over the next decade, Russia will spend upwards of 700 billion dollars modernizing its army, which will include 600 new warplanes, a new fleet of submarines and 400 ballistic missiles. Putin says that Russian manufacturers have fallen behind world standards of the past few decades. Russia has seen its military power slip since the end of the Cold War. As a result, Russia could seek a partnership with foreign companies to catch up. The sweeping changes are being called the country_s greatest since the Stalin era of the 1930_s.
